Overview

The St. Adalbert’s Church site has been a very sensitive property in recent history of the Pilsen neighborhood. With a changing demographic and rising rental costs there is reason for outcry that this site would fall prey to further gentrification. Present Future Architects worked with the developer to consider an option for the site which was submitted to the Planning Dept. This concept included a renovation the existing Rectory and Convent buildings along with (2) new structures to achieve a total of 168 dwelling units that would exceed the affordable ratio set by the City. In addition, the failing masonry on the church steeples would be stabilized and restored allowing for the space to become an asset once again to the community. The school at the north end of the site would continue as the same use.
