Grace Presbyterian Church

In 2023, Grace Presbyterian Church approached Present Future Architects to design an addition to their building that would provide a large fellowship hall, youth space, classrooms and accessibility upgrades. The primary concern of the congregation was respecting the symmetry of the existing structure; no alteration could diminish the purity of the symmetrical and axial relationship between the entry tower and the sanctuary. In order to maintain the architectural hierarchy, PFA proposed two additions at the rear of the building along with infilling a second floor atrium opening in the existing West Hall in order to minimize the new construction footprint and maximize utilization of the existing structure. The final design is a delicate balance between celebrating and complimenting the original architecture, while providing a fresh, forward thinking interior conducive to modern worshipping, learning and working practices.
