Copenhagen, Denmark

Situated a few blocks from Amalienborg on the Port of Copenhagen, the new central library site presents a dialog between the purpose of a library and its performative responsibilities. Within this conversation, the suggestion of future’ or forward looking is weighed against the trajectory of information itself, how it is accessed and the context in which it’s placed or housed.

Our concept explores this notion of forwardness through the enduring quality of space and its relation to both a cultural heritage and the natural elements. It defends a position that a library of the future is one that is arranged for human comfort and enjoyment, affords a diversity of experience and fosters a sense of togetherness through its transparency.
